Meet the Tappx Team: Interview with Christian Ahlers
Tappx team member Christian Ahlers shares his experience with the advertising industry and managing campaigns.
Q&A With Publisher Account Manager, Christian Ahlers
How long have you been working in the business of CPM campaigns?
Almost 6 years. I started working with a well-known online advertising company, doing Media Buying at SSPs with Display campaigns. Afterwards, I did some trading, and then I went through Video and finally arrived at Mobile Performance. I can say that I’ve manage more than 40 different platforms (no joke) from Publishers and Advertisers.
What was the biggest ROI you ever witnessed or made happen?
With Video, I’ve seen and made huge ROIs, especially at the beginning of the business, which was a few years ago.
And what is the most frequent mistake that publishers (or advertisers) make that could be avoided?
In my opinion, publishers tend to stop the tests without any relevant metric being analyzed. Sometimes they get nervous or anxious and expect results immediately. Magic doesn’t happen overnight. It’s been my experience that tests cannot be defined in matters of days, in order to work, changes need to be made on both ends, and this process usually takes time.
Can you please describe what your role is at Tappx?
I’m selecting and dealing with Advertisers and Publishers for our performance Team CPI. Opening new businesses, searching and selecting better opportunities for Tappx inventory and trying to help other members of the team.
What is the most exciting thing about your current role?
I would have to say that one has to be prepared for anything. The market is always changing, everyday is different. One needs to be open-minded and receptive to constant changes.
What is the most important skill needed in your job?
Organizational order and constant drive.
What is the coolest technology to have been developed in the last 10 years?
I definitely would have to say 3d printing. Nowadays you can have whatever you want physically in the palm of your hands. This industry is reaching places one would never have thought. One amazing example is the generation of prosthetics… think about it…they are changing the face of medicine, as engineers and physicians are able to develop prosthetics that are fully customized to the wearer.
What technology do you think we still need, but haven’t developed?
Technology… I’m not sure. I think that nowadays, technology it’s not where our focus must be at, but human bonds. In modern society we are connected through different media…but we have lost our ability to communicate with one another, and even worse, to lend a helping hand.
If your life could be compared to an app, which app would it be?
I would be a fusion between Facebook and a Health care app. In this case FB because I have lots of friends and a health care app, to avoid my last year’s accidents and ER surgeries.
What do you do to unwind from work?
I go to Bootcamp almost every day- It’s a functional gym, where for 1 hour you just have to concentrate on doing burpees, abs, jumping and running. I can assure you, that you forget everything else.
You have lived in Argentina. Who is the best Argentinian footballer to have ever lived?
UHHHHH that’s a tough question….mmmm….that’s “THE” question that divides Argentina in two… but I will have to say Maradona.
